Ole 97 gathered their present musicians from an ad Todd placed in the Pennysaver. They first met in October 2008 with a mission to form a tight cohesive band paying tribute to the music of Johnny Cash and June Carter. Under the musical leadership of Todd Shaffer, the band tries to emulate and recreate “that boom-chicka-boom rockabilly country sound” made famous by Johnny and the Tennessee Three. Singer Randy Hunter’s voice comes as close to Johnny’s as we think you’ll hear, and Kim Miller’s rendition of June Carter’s vocals are striking. Todd’s lead guitar emulates the clean licks made world famous by Bob Wootton. With Gary on bass, Chuckie on rhythm guitar, and Paul on drums “that country rockabilly sound” is tight and together, and has been winning fans of all ages since our first gig in December 2008. We are primarily a festival, fair, and dinner show band, but also available for private corporate parties or conventions.
